Speaking up at our School Board 8/12/25
Our kids and families deserve better. They deserve to be free from fear, hunger and illnesses. We had fire drills. As a parent, we shouldn’t have to worry about active shooters or federal agents with guns. As a school, we shouldn’t have to worry about losing programs and working in margins for kids to learn. As a teacher, we shouldn’t have to worry about potentially getting laid off if enrollment suddenly drops. As a community we shouldn’t have to deal with massive cuts to healthcare where everyone is going to pay for the repercussions. As human beings, we shouldn’t hate on any other person because they simply exist. I hope people know that we have a right to vote and use that as our tool to make our voices heard. These privileges can be taken away. Call your representatives if you feel like you’ve been impacted in any way so they can fight for you. It doesn’t matter if they’re Democrats or Republicans. They need to hear from their constituents and use your voice in hearings. Being silent is not an option. If we want America to be great, tell your kids, families, friends and colleagues that you stood up in this country for the sake of the future. It doesn’t have to be big but do your homework, do your part and know, we stand on shoulders of those who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms we have today. We are backsliding and don’t let the work of decades go in vein. I trust and believe our community will do the right thing. This is a nonpartisan issue. We all have human rights and we all can change our opinions if we realized now the mistake we made. Let’s move forward together and ensure this upcoming school year, our kids will have the best one yet!
